Eco–Box 101

Filed under: Food and drink — Boite a Lunch @ 22:15

An Eco-box, you said? you know what I mean: something reusable, not ‘trashable’. The rules? Here are mine:
1- Find a reusable box.
2- Find a reusable box your kids CAN open!
3- Find a reusable box your kids can open and that won’t open by itself in their bags!!
4- Find a reusable box your kids won’t lose (good luck with that!).
5- Find a BIG enough reusable box your kids can’t lose.
6- Find a reusable water bottle.
7- Find a reusable water bottle… (see #1-5).
8- Find a reusable bag, mark their name on it!
9- Find reusable utensils
10- Try to get rid of plastic.. (I haven’t fully complied with that rule yet)

Here are a couple of example I looked at and/or tried:

To-Go Ware® - 2-Tier Stainless Steel Food CarrierGreat box, not easy for kids to open New Wave Enviro Stainless Steel Food ContainerGreat box, easy to open, but not tight enough for liquid. LunchBots Duo Stainless Steel Lunch Box/Food ContainerHaven’t tried this one but seems a nice alternative (different sizes too)

Best water bottle I found so far:

Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottle

comes with different sizes too

As for bags, this one worked really well for us, but there are other options too:

reuseit™ Insulated Lunch Bag, Recycled PET, Medium
